Tobaru House has been my family’s home in Japan for generations. I spent many fun days there with my grandparents, cousins, and friends. Surrounded by our rice fields and a nearby river, and a bamboo-forested mountain just a walk away, it is complete with a tokonoma shrine for my great-grandparents, tatami floors, and traditional shoji screen doors.
Through my teachings, I hope to share the warm feeling of family and tradition that is embedded in my feelings for Tobaru House.
